Question for mommies who got a 3D or 4D ultrasound?
(Also posted in Newborn & Baby section.)
My BIL and his wife are planning to open a 3D ultrasound studio in their city, and if the venture is a success, they want to open another one in MY city and guess who gets a new, awesome job?! LOL I’m super excited and really think it’s going to pan out because as of now, neither city has a studio, and the closest is a 30 minute drive away! We’re in the "outline" stages right now, but they have the small business loan to purchase all the of equipment, property to lease for the office and are working on a website and brochures!
So I was just wondering, for mommies who have had a 3D ultrasound, what did you like and dislike about the particular studio you went to? I would like to hear about everything from the actual experience of the ultrasound to the ambiance of the office itself. I figure Y!A is as good a place as any to get valuable consumer input. =)
Thank you!

I had a family member do mine for free, so I guess it’s a little different for me because what I liked about it was that it was soooo relaxed being as she was family. I felt I could ask her absolutely anything and not feel stupid or scared to ask. The ultrasound was fab because she made sure I knew what everything on the screen was (as opposed to going over it quickly as I think some do because they forget that we are not as accustomed to looking at it and it takes a little longer for us to take it all in!) and she took lots of different photo shots of him.
Good luck with setting the business up, I hope it all works out for you, there is nothing better than working for your family’s business

well i got my first one done at the doctor office and it was in a big room with a huge tv. I felt like even though the tv was huge it was to far away and i couldnt see anything and it was like stadium seating. I couldnt see my lil boogers face so i paid for it at a clinic like your talking about and it was so much better. I liked it because it wasnt a huge place i didnt feel all exposed and they had several things to offer me like i got a cd of him moving around and his face etc… i also paid a little extra and got a stuffed animal with his heart beat. What i liked the best is the first time we went he didnt wanna participate in the ultrasound so we couldnt see a thing. So without charge they let me come back again at a diffrent time of day. when we went back the second time he was being good and we got to see his cute lil face. she went ahead and printed out photos for me even though she wasnt supposed to. I guess just that the whole time they made you feel like they cared that you had a great experiance oh my fav thing was the huge projector screen at the other place! it wasnt a tv it was closer and bigger better quality etc

that is the website to the place I got mine done!! It was one of the best things to do, and it was nice because friends and family got to come and be apart. The reason I chose that place was because of one difference that no other place offered, they take a recording of your baby’s heartbeat and stick it inside of a stuffed animal bear, it is the most awesome thing, and it will last a life time. Also, we did not do this, but if you have family that does not live around you, they have an option for you to get a website and they put the ultrasound up on the web for your family to watch.
My favorite thing about the ultrasound facility, was the spacious room it was done it. They had 1 big room (could be separated into 2, with a curtain). On one side of the room they had a big screen tv, couches and chairs for up to 8 adults to sit comfortably, and then the other side was where mommy to be layed. They played fun lullaby music, and dimmed the lights. It was the best experience, and it was so much fun to have my family and friends there with me!!
I liked the fact that the rooms were big enough to let me and five other family members in to see. also, my babies (twins) wouldnt look at the camera, so the place is letting me come back for free until we get some face shots. I went to Peek A Baby. They have a website.
If you are going to do the background music for the videos, make sure its not something cheesy. lol
Make your rooms big enough to were the couple can have a few people if they want them, but if they dont want the make the room intimate. This is very special. and thank you for making something as awesome as 4d available to more people.
We had a 3D ultrasound done when I was 33 weeks pregnant. I loved that the room was big enough to allow for up to 5 people to attend (the regular ultrasound only let one person plus a child if you already had one) so I felt like the people that mattered got to experience this amazing moment!
I liked how personal it was, however I found that the music selection was pretty cheesy so we decided to not get it to music. Maybe allow people to bring in a song that they want and then download it to the video that way people really get what they want.
I think that this is a great business venture! And it’s great that you get a new and very cool job!!!!
